ridiculous chocolate for leukemia

A few years ago, my husband and I began experimenting with chocolate.  From the time we had met, chocolate and desserts had always been a part of our relationship.  It was something we had in common.  The man loves chocolate as much as any cocoa crazed woman I've ever met.  Once we started investigating and practicing a healthier lifestyle, we started learning about raw chocolate.  It wasn't too long before we purchased David Wolfe's book Naked Chocolate.  We started learning about how many health benefits chocolate had if it was left in it's non-processed, unaltered natural state.  Our interest in raw chocolate eventually led to our experimenting with it in recipes.

Today I use raw cacao in smoothies, puddings, trail mixes, and for truffles.  But the most amazing use we've ever found for raw, unadulterated, organic cacao powder is in our product Ridiculous Chocolate.  To say that I am proud of my husband's creation would be a sad understatement. After many months, many dollars, many tasters, and many victories, he finally perfected the recipe of our original flavored chocolate.  After the basic recipe was perfected, he started experimenting with adding all natural flavors and now offers six additional varieties including peppermint (my personal favorite), coffee (he makes his own coffee flavor using Just Love Coffee, a locally roasted organic coffee that benefits orphans in Ethiopia with its proceeds), strawberry, raspberry, orange, and maple.

What makes our chocolate so unique?
Well, it's raw (meaning not cooked or heated above 105 degrees and therefore the ingredients all maintain their healthy and lovely beneficial properties), organic (which means the ingredients were grown without using chemicals and pesticides), low glycemic (meaning the sweetener we use, agave nectar, will not make one's blood sugar spike... we have many diabetic customers who say that our product is safe for their diets), and vegan (meaning we don't use any animal products).  As a matter of fact, our product only has three ingredients.  It's simple.  It's delicious. It's "green". And it's good for you!

Our chocolate is sold in ice cream containers and that is appropriate as it must remain in the freezer at all times.  But never fear... no thawing is necessary.  The product is designed and intended to be eaten directly from the freezer.  Just try not to eat it all at once!

Chocolate for cancer...
Our story was already pretty interesting and Ridiculous Chocolate was receiving quite a bit of media attention (click here and here) this past spring and summer.  But then, on July 31st, our lives changed... and so did the purpose of our business.  Suddenly, we were a family facing leukemia and our chocolate would now be a major source of income for us as my husband missed many weeks of work at his full-time job.  So now we are selling chocolate to help us win our battle with the big C.  And suddenly we were receiving media attention for a different reason.

The best way to keep up with the business is by "liking" us on Facebook.

If you would like to contact us directly, feel free to email at ridiculouschocolate@gmail.com or call 615-691-2899 or 615-642-7956.

We have a website but it's not always the easiest thing to read or navigate... hope to have that taken care of in the near future.

The amount of support and the huge response we have received have really encouraged us to keep moving forward with making our chocolate.  Our vision includes finding investors,  a commercial kitchen, and then getting our chocolate into local businesses and eventually, our ultimate goal, Whole Foods.
